by: Cl. Filipe Cardoso, SDBOn May 1, solemnity of Saint Joseph, two Salesian Brothers of the ITM Vice-Province made their Perpetual Profession at the church of Mary help of Christains, in Dili: Bro. Filipe da Conceição and Bro. Josafat Tánio Oliveira. The celebration begun with a short procession from the salesian community to the Parish church, about 200 meters. Wearing costomary clothes, both walked along preceded by cultural dance and accompanied by their families, salesians and relatives. In a simple ceremony, traditional clothes were changed with new clothes at the entrance of the church, symbolizing their total self-giving to God. The Holy Mass followed, presided over by Fr. Provincial and concelebrated by many salesian priests from different communities in East Timor and from the Indonesia Delegacy. After the Mass, all were invited for lunch together with the 2 perpetual professed Brothers at the Don Bosco gymn. Several groups of the Salesian Family animated the affair till late in the afternoon.Short biography of two brothersBrother Filipe da Conceição was born at the Ermera district, on the west side of East Timor, in July 6, 1984, one of nine (9) siblings in his family, who came all for the ocasion with both parents from their town Atsabe, in Ermera. He begun his Pre-noviciate formation in Lospalos in 2006, and in 2008 made his First Profession in our Novitiate at Fatumaca. Post-novitiate formation followed in Dili. After practical training in Dili, on 2011 he went to India to take a specialization course in computer for three (3) years. At present he stays and works in our Skills Training Center in Dili.Brother Josafat was born in Dili, the capital of East Timor, in November 12, 1989. He is the first son of four (4) siblings. His family lives in Baucau, a district located in the east part of Timor. He got his salesian vocation at our Professional School at Fatumaca, and in 2007 he went to Lospalos for his Pre-noviciate formation and made his First Profession at Fatumaca in 2009. He then continued Post-noviciate formation in Dili. In 2013, he went to Indonesia to take a specialization course in electronics. At present he stays in Fatumaca.Let us continue to pray for the vocation for the Church and religious congregation, specially “ Salesian Brothers” in our congregation.
